Discover the thrill of whitewater rafting in the Great Smoky Mountains with Rafting in the Smokies. An easy drive from the Sunset Cottage Rentals office in Pigeon Forge, Rafting in the Smokies offers whitewater rafting on class I-IV rapids — the closest whitewater rafting you’ll find to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area of East Tennessee.

Never been whitewater rafting before? Not a problem. Rafting in the Smokies welcomes beginning rafters. "NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY" to participate in a rafting or floating trip with Rafting in the Smokies, as each raft carries a professional guide.

Rafting in the Smokies offers two guided whitewater rafting trips on the Pigeon River. The whitewater rafting trip on the Big Pigeon River (or Upper Pigeon River) offers an action-packed 5 miles of 12 Class III and 3 Class IV (children must be 8 years old or weigh 70 lbs).  Rafting in the Smokies also offer a rafting float trip on the Lower Pigeon River. The float trip is 6 miles in length, this gentler trip features primarily class I-II rapids, with one class III rapid at the end of the trip making it especially suited to groups traveling with young children  (minimum age 3 years old). Groups or families have the flexibility to raft at the same time but at different levels of adventure. All rafters are required to wear a life vest.

Rafting in the Smokies Operating Schedule

Rafting in the Smokies offers Smoky Mountain whitewater rafting trips from March thru October.  Pigeon River rafting trips are offered, rain or shine.

Guests of Sunset Cottage Rentals are eligible for a $10 discount on each ticket. Reservations are recommended.
